We have made some changes to the salary bands on the website following changes on 1 April 2022 and details of the annual pension increase changes coming into effect on 11 April 2022.

From 1 April 2022, the LGPS employee contribution salary bands have changed, and these will be in place until 31 March 2023. Here are the new salary bands:

8 | £110,001 to £165,000 | 11.4% | 5.70% |
9 | £165,001 or more | 12.5% | 6.25% |
Note that these contribution pay bandings and rates are reviewed annually. |
Actual pay rather than full-time equivalent is used in the assessment. |
The new salary bands have been calculated by increasing the 2021/22 Employee Contribution by the September 2021 CPI figure of 3.1% and then rounding down to the nearest £100. These changes have been updated on the website, including any relevant factsheets and presentations.
Annual Pension Increase changes
From 11 April 2022, there will also be an increase in the Annual Pension. The Annual Pension Increase is based on Consumer Prices Index (CPI), so LGPS pensions will increase in line with the 3.1 per cent rise. The only exception to this will be for those that have been in payment for less than a year.
